WISCO Steel Rail Production Development History

wisco rail
WISCO started to produce steel rails in 1963. At present, it has advanced rail beam production equipment and technology and established a complete quality management system. The quality of profile products is stable and reliable and is widely used in railway, construction, machinery, shipbuilding, mining, and other industries. Among them, the single length of heavy rail products can be up to 100 meters and can be produced according to domestic and foreign standards. The products have the characteristics of high purity, high flatness, high dimensional accuracy, and high surface quality, and the product quality is first-class in China. The 350km/h heavy rail has been successfully applied to railway projects such as Shiwu Railway Station, Nanjing-Hangzhou Railway Station, Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Railway Station, Guangzhou New Railway Station, Wuhan Railway Station, etc.; Hanyi Railway, Xiangpu Railway, Longxia Railway, Lanyu Railway, Xiamen-Shenzhen Railway, Wuhe Railway, and other railway engineering projects. The development of corrosion-resistant heavy rail UNS fills the domestic gap. WISCO steel rails are exported to Indonesia, Vietnam, Pakistan, Bolivia, Africa, and other countries and regions.
WISCO Rail Track Production Development Sign Event
1. In August 2011, the rail beam line of the large-scale branch of WISCO successfully produced the first batch of 400-ton corrosion-resistant steel rails U68CuCr with a specification of 60gk/m in China according to the new process, marking that WISCO has taken the lead in the development and production of corrosion-resistant steel rails domestic front. The accelerated corrosion test of this steel in the laboratory shows that its service life is about 70% longer than that of ordinary rails, and it has the characteristics of fine grain, high strength, and good toughness. This feature can meet the needs of railway construction under the conditions of high humidity and high corrosion in coastal areas, salt lakes, and humid tunnels, and can effectively prolong the service life of the rails, which is of positive significance for improving railway safety conditions and reducing track maintenance costs.
2. On May 6, 2016, WISCO exclusively provided steel rails, and the first medium and low-speed maglev railway with completely independent intellectual property rights in China, the Changsha Maglev Express Line, was put into operation.
3. In August 2020, the corrosion-resistant steel rail U68CuCr produced by WISCO for the high-speed railway was recognized by relevant departments and achieved the world’s first launch! Its strong corrosion resistance has solved one of the key problems restricting the development of my country’s railways, and it has been successfully applied to the world’s first Shiziyang submarine tunnel for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed railway with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour.
