The Yinlan high-speed railway has hit a major milestone: on December 3, at the east exit of the Xiangshan Tunnel (part of its Zhonglan section) in Zhongwei, Ningxia, the last set of 500-meter-long steel rails was accurately pushed into place—completing the track laying for the entire Zhonglan section successfully. This marks the countdown to the opening of this “Western Grand Corridor,” which connects North China and Northeast China in the northwest region.

This high-speed railway is an important part of China’s “eight vertical and eight horizontal” high-speed railway network. Among them, the Yinzhong section of the Yinlan-Lanzhou high-speed railway was opened for operation on December 29, 2019. The Zhonglan section will be opened at the end of this year. The Zhonglan section is drawn from Zhongwei South Station in Ningxia.

There are Zhongwei South Station, Beitan Station, Pingchuan West Station, Jingyuan North Station, Baiyin South Station, Qinwangchuan Station, and Lanzhou West Station. There are 7 passenger stations with a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour and a total length of about 219 kilometers, of which the Ningxia section is about 46.2 kilometers, and the bridge-tunnel ratio is about 88%. The track laying of the Zhonglan section of the Yinlan-Lanzhou high-speed railway in Gansu has been completed in March 2022, and the joint debugging and joint test will be completed on November 6, entering the operation test stage.

Since March 27 this year, track laying started from Gansu-Nanjing provincial border to Zhongwei South Station, and entered the two-way track laying stage on August 4. In order to ensure the safe and orderly progress of the construction, the China Railway Lanzhou Bureau organized all participating units to optimize the construction organization and strengthen the allocation of resources. Yinlan High-Speed Railway’s Zhonglan Section Track Laying Completed

The construction of the Zhonglan section of this high-speed railway has completed about 92.5 kilometers of rail laying, 5.71 kilometers of roadbed construction, 11 bridges totaling 5.59 kilometers, and six tunnels totaling 5.88 kilometers.

After this high-speed railway is completed and opened to traffic, it will become a fast passenger transport channel connecting Northwest China and Northeast China. It is of great significance to promote the development of the west and promote regional economic and social development. At that time, the running time of the train from Zhongwei to Lanzhou will be shortened from the current 5 hours to more than 1 hour.
