The difference between a beam crane and a bridge crane

A Beam crane is a kind of crane, which has the characteristics of lifting machinery and is a kind of machinery with cyclic and intermittent motion. A working cycle includes: the picking device lifting the item from the picking ground, then moving horizontally to the designated position to place the item, and then reversing the movement to put the picking device back in place for the next cycle.

There are two types of bridges: support type and suspension type. The front axle runs along a crane track on the car beam; the rear bridge runs along a crane track suspended under the workshop roof. Single-girder bridge cranes are divided into two types: power and electric.

Manual single-girder bridge cranes have low working speed and small self-weight, but their own quality is small, which is convenient for organizing production and at low cost. A manual single girder bridge crane adopts a manual monorail trolley as a running trolley and a manual hoist as a hoisting mechanism. The bridge frame is composed of the main beam and an end beam. The main beam is generally a single I-beam.

The working speed and productivity of electric single girder overhead cranes are higher than that of manual cranes, and the lifting capacity is higher. The electric single-girder bridge crane consists of a bridge frame, a large vehicle operating mechanism, an electric hoist, and electrical equipment.

The girder crane mainly includes a single girder bridge crane and a double girder bridge crane. The main girder bridge of a single girder bridge crane adopts I-beam or steel and steel plate combined section. The trolley crane is usually assembled by hand hoist, electric hoist, or hoist as a lifting structure component.

A gantry crane is a variant of an overhead crane. In the port, it is mainly used for the loading and unloading operations of outdoor storage yards, storage yards, and bulk cargoes. Its metal structure is like a door frame, and two outriggers are installed under the load-bearing main beam, which can walk directly on the track on the ground, and the two ends of the main beam can have a suspended cantilever beam. Gantry cranes have the characteristics of high on-site utilization, large operating range, wide adaptability, and strong versatility, and are widely used in port yards.

Ordinary bridge cranes are generally composed of a lifting trolley, a bridge operating mechanism, and a bridge metal structure. The trolley consists of three parts: the lifting mechanism, the trolley running mechanism, and the trolley frame.

The lifting mechanism includes a motor, a brake, a reducer, a roller, and a pulley block. Through the reducer, the motor drives the drum to rotate, so that the wire rope is wound around the drum or put down from the drum to lift heavy objects. The trolley frame is a frame used to support and install components such as the lifting mechanism and the trolley running mechanism, usually a welded structure.

Overhead cranes are bridge cranes that run on elevated tracks, also known as cranes. The bridge of bridge crane runs longitudinally along the crane rail tracks laid on both sides of the bridge, and the hoisting trolley runs laterally along the tracks laid on the bridge to form a rectangular working range, which can make full use of the space under the bridge to hoist materials without being blocked by ground equipment.
