ISCOR Standard Rails

ISCOR is the official railway standard of South Africa, built on Africa’s most established rail network. It is a widely adopted specification for industrial yards, port terminals, branch lines, and mining projects across Southern Africa and worldwide. The full series includes 6 nominal sizes from 15 kg/m to 57 kg/m, with clearly matched steel grades to cover light-duty to heavy-haul operations.

Profile Classification by Load Capacity

Light-duty (15 kg/m & 22 kg/m): Made of Grade 700 steel, lightweight and easy to install. Ideal for in-plant transfer lines, light storage yards, tourist railways and other low-frequency, low-axle-load scenarios.
Medium-duty (30 kg/m & 40 kg/m): 30 kg/m features standard Grade 700 (upgradeable to 900A); 40 kg/m comes with Grade 900A as standard. Balanced load performance and cost efficiency, suitable for suburban branch lines, industrial corridors and small-to-medium port yards.
Heavy-duty (48 kg/m & 57 kg/m): Manufactured with R260 wear-resistant steel for high rigidity and long service life. Designed for freight mainlines, heavy mining tracks, heavy-load port yards and existing line upgrading projects.
