Lianyungang Port’s “Five Centers” Construction kicks off

Lianyungang Port

The port is the core strategic resource for the development of Lianyungang City. Lianyungang vigorously promotes the construction of the “Five Centers” of the Free Trade Zone Port and Shipping Development Center, the Super Large Intelligent Container Center, the International Grain Distribution Center, the Green Professional Bulk Commodity Distribution Center, and the Liquid Bulk Cargo Center.

In the water area of Liugang Pool inside the east breakwater of Xuwei Port Area of Lianyungang, the 300,000-ton crude oil terminal project of Lianyungang Port with a total investment of 945 million yuan is under construction in full swing. Several dredging ships such as “Maofa No. 5008” are waving their grabs to carry out engineering dredging operations. The entire project is expected to be handed over by the end of 2023. After completion, a 300,000-ton crude oil terminal with an annual design capacity of 18.6 million tons will effectively alleviate the contradiction of insufficient throughput capacity of the Lianyungang crude oil terminal and help increase the throughput of bulk liquid bulk cargo at the port.

The International Grain Distribution Center started construction in December last year, with an investment of about 950 million yuan in the first phase of the project. As an important part of the construction layout of the “five major centers” of the port, it will give full play to Lianyungang Port’s role as the only departure port for Kazakhstan wheat in China. It will serve the countries and regions along the “Belt and Road” and serve as an important grain storage and transfer base along the Longhai Lanxin in the central and western regions of China. It will build a land-sea grain logistics two-way channel with Lianyungang Port as the logistics hub, and create a nationally famous “maritime granary”.

After the completion of the international grain distribution center, the total grain storage capacity of Lianyungang Port will reach 500,000 tons, with an annual throughput capacity of nearly 6 million tons. At the same time, a number of landmark projects such as the reconstruction and expansion project of the 400,000-ton ore terminal, the renovation and upgrading project of the intelligent container terminal, the extension project of the pipe gallery frame of the east breakwater in the Ganyu Port area, and the flood drainage channel project in the Qitai operation area have been completed since the end of last year. Since its inception, it is currently in full swing.
