When the old rail grinder is grinding, the left and right movement range of the roller is short, which is prone to weld problems such as high convexity, low collapse, and saddle shape.

Li Huijie, Chief Welder of Nanyang Engineering Works Section of China Railway Zhengzhou Bureau Group Co., Ltd., led the team to make great efforts to tackle key problems and lengthened the two arms of the grinding frame by 25 cm to extend the left and right movement range of the grinding machine. According to the sampling survey, the excellent rate of weld grinding quality increased from 67.8% before the transformation to 97.1%, which effectively solved the problem of many residual defects in weld grinding, improved the comfort of train passengers, and reduced the maintenance costs of locomotive components and tracks.
